We have already referred to the Magdalenenberg near Villingen. This is an imposing burial mound more than 100 meters in diameter and, originally, 8 high. The central chamber, made of squared-off trunks of oak, measures 8 by 5 meters, and is about 1. 5 meters high. The chamber was buried under a mass of stones almost thirty meters across, with the tumulus of earth on top.
