Four kilometers from the burial mound is the Kapf, a hillfort settlement on a rise. However, excavations there were restricted to a fairly small area. The pottery found at this site suggests that the settlement was contemporary with the Magdalenenberg burial so it may be assumed that the settlement and the burial mound are contemporary.
