From a technical point of view, the third lion is clearly superior to its imported counterparts in terms of execution, though the attempt to imitate the actual shape the Greek models is not very successful. It is lacking in stylization and does not suggest a conscious, independent approach. We have already seen that the unusual couch from the Hochdorf grave can only have derived from furniture of Italic origin, as the decoration on the back-rest proves.
