The magnets and sitting greyhounds are glazed in individual patterns. The vases are not designed in advance, the shape changes as they are created and as a result no two greyhound gifts are exactly alike. The sizes range from 7"to 14"in height. Most are glazed within so that they can hold water and fresh flowers, if desired. Stains or glazes are sometimes used to enhance the external color of the clay. To achieve a different appearance, some of the vases are first burnished with white terra sigilata, bisque fired and then pit-fired. The smoky grey and black achieved in the pit firing complements the white background. I have recently added smaller vases, magnets and sitting greyhounds, to the list of greyt gifts.
